“We cannot rule anything out,” said Deputy Assistant Police Commissioner Chin Lao Kui. “Including whether SJI has anything to do with JI.”

APC Chin pointed out that in addition to the similarity in initials, SJI’s location in Malcolm Road is close enough to the Internal Security Department’s Whitley Road Detention Centre “to put us on full alert.”

“Plus,” he added. “SJI is a Lasallian institution, while JI is a sala institution. Coincidence? We have to look into it.”
